A very beautiful woman, c.1850s, dramatic brows over beautiful eyes, and her hair in a stylish parted and poofed to the sides, her earliy Victorian style, low off shoulder gown and her rich pearl and gold jewelry consisting of bracelets and ring, as she clutches a Persian shawl, popular in her time. She seems to be biting a word, and the painting is exquisite. I did take her out of her elegant frame of hardwood and dore bronze elaborate oval mount, cleaned her original convex cover glass, and found her artist's signature there to the side rim, actually covered by the frame. I've shown it so you can perhaps research the very capable artist. The painting is on wafer which is adhered to card (see images) and so has no flaws to note. Very good to excellent condition for age and type. Very well preserved, the painting is artist signed and magnificent, and housed in a frame of hardwood and dore bronze which presents her with a certain drama, too. There is a hanging loop up top, so she's ready to hang and enjoy. Her face is just 1", chin to hairline, and yet look at how much her artist has cone in that single small space. Just superb!
